Nato nel Devon, Sud Ovest dell’Inghilterra in una famiglia specializzata in sartoria militare, Neil Barrett fin da piccolo eredita il talento del nonno e del bisnonno sviluppando un interesse per tagli, linee e forme che si traduce oggi in capi dalla realizzazione impeccabile. Frequenta il Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design per poi specializzarsi presso il Royal College of Art di Londra. Subito dopo il diploma, Neil si trasferisce in Italia, dove viene chiamato a ricoprire la posizione di Senior Men’s Designer presso Gucci.
Dopo cinque anni a Firenze, Neil propone a Patrizio Bertelli, CEO di Prada, di affidargli il lancio di una collezione maschile, dopo otto mesi nasce Prada Uomo.
Sotto la guida di Neil, Prada Uomo riscrive le regole del guardaroba maschile contemporaneo, coniugando l’impareggiabile sartorialità italiana con tessuti high tech proveniente dal mondo dello sport.
Gli stessi presupposti sono alla base dell’omonimo brand Neil Barrett fondato nel 1999, presentato l’anno successivo al Pitti Uomo. Sin dagli esordi Neil realizza capi innovativi, caratterizzati da un design distintivo, da una particolare attenzione per vestibilità e impiego di tessuti.
Rivisita il tailoring attraverso forme e volumi sempre attuali, combinando precisione sartoriale ed elementi sportswear.

Born in Devon, South West England into a family specialising in military tailoring, Neil Barrett inherited his grandfather’s and great-grandfather’s talent as a child, developing an interest in cuts, lines and shapes that today translates into impeccably crafted garments. He studied at both Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art in London. Immediately after graduation, Neil moved to Italy, where he was called to the position of Senior Men’s Designer at Gucci.
After five years in Florence, Neil proposed to Patrizio Bertelli, CEO of Prada, to entrust him with the launch of a men’s collection, after eight months Prada Uomo was born. Neil’s work under the Prada label also established a blueprint of minimal menswear that combines luxurious fabrics and Italian craftsmanship with high-tech sportswear.
This approach to the masculine wardrobe also formed the foundation of the Neil Barrett brand of the same name, founded in 1999 and presented the following year at Pitti Uomo. Since the beginning Neil has been creating innovative garments, characterized by a distinctive design, a particular attention to fit and use of fabrics. He revisits tailoring through shapes and volumes always up-to-date, combining sartorial precision and sportswear elements.
