Vincitori dell’Andam Fashion Award 2022 come migliore brand dell’anno, il duo Rushemy Botter e Lisi Herrebrugh, coppia nel lavoro e nella vita privata, sono i fondatori del marchio Botter.
Rushemy nato a Caraçao, isola olandese dei Caraibi, è cresciuto ad Amsterdam dove ha completato i suoi studi presso Arnhem, si è poi specializzato alla Royal Academy of Fine Arts di Anversa dove ha incontrato la sua compagna Lisi, che ha vissuto tra la Repubblica Dominicana e l’Olanda dove ha studiato design all’Amsterdam Fashion Institute.
Durante gli anni di formazione Botter ha applicato e sperimentato le conoscenze acquisite, presso l’atelier di Viktor & Rolf, lavorando alla collezione Haute Couture. La coppia si è poi ritrovata insieme alla direzione creativa di Nina Ricci per poi fondare, insieme nel 2017 il proprio marchio.
Le comuni origini caraibiche diventano terreno fertile per il duo creativo, nasce così il concetto di “Caribbean Couture”, un mix di capi classici rivisitati in chiave contemporanea, con tutti gli elementi del mare; il tema dell’inquinamento marino, i materiali ricavati dalle alghe e le silhouette ispirate all’attrezzatura da immersione: “Vogliamo davvero portare l’acqua in passerella” hanno dichiarato i desogner e soprattutto “sensibilizzare il sistema moda ed i consumers sul cambiamento climatico, sulla crisi dell’ambiente e su quanto sia importante metterlo in primo piano nelle scelte politiche”.
Tra il tailoring decostruito, tocchi di blu oceano “Blue Botter” e spot di colori accesi, un insieme di accessori che richiamano il legame con l’acqua, maschere da sub, balaclava che richiamano le cuffie da nuoto, borse come piccoli galleggianti e reti da pesca con perline colorate, il tutto prodotto in gran parte tramite materiali di riciclo recuperati dal mare.

The common Caribbean origins become fertile ground for the creative duo, thus the concept of “ Caribbean Couture ” was born, a mix of classic garments revisited in a contemporary key, with all the elements of the sea; the theme of marine pollution, the materials obtained from algae and the silhouettes inspired by diving equipment: “We really want to bring water to the catwalk” declared the designers and above all “to sensitize the fashion system and consumers on climate change, the crisis of the environment and how important it is to put it at the forefront of political choices “.
Between deconstructed tailoring and touches of ocean blue “ Blue Botter ” and brightly colored spots, a set of accessories that recall the bond with water, diving masks, balaclavas that recall the swimming caps, bags such as small floats and fishing nets with colored beads, all produced largely using recycled materials recovered from the sea.
